DESCRIPTION:
Roasting Jacks- 3 (Three): France, floor standing roasting jacks or spit engines, spring driven motors each capable of turning two spits, housed in cast and sheet iron cases with brass handles on top, one with spit and auxiliary support, c19th Century.
CONDITION:
Units appear to be in good condition, though none were tested. Well-built with heavy brass gears and cut steel pinions. The largest jack comes with a spit, support stand, and winding crank. The largest has an enamel plaque that reads "H. Rivemale / Horologer / Camarès ". The smallest has cast letters on the top reading "FUF ". The third is unsigned. These roasting jacks were used within a fireplace in conjunction with a support stand. A governor fan runs in the base of each unit. Each jack has a bell that rings as the spit runs down and needs winding. Dimensions are for the largest. Sold "as is ".
